The Monsoon season starts June 15th and continues through September 30th. Arizona Monsoon storms can produce as much as 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inches of rain in one storm!
Typically, Arizona Monsoons start with high winds followed by a visible wall of dust called a Haboob and a heavy down pour of rain with thunder and lightning.
Monsoons are not the only time Arizona gets rain. We encounter rain during other times of the year that result in an average rainfall of 7 1/2 inches per year.
It has been calculated that 1 inch of rain falling on a 1000 square foot area of your roof is equivalent to 600 gallons of water. That’s a lot of water!
